The Story So Far…

Perhaps for some individuals, one’s life is set before them in a clear, deliberate path; their goals and aspirations known and planned out years in advance - but not for me. Mine is a life of meandering discovery with surprising twists and turns, bumps and bruises, adventures, challenges, victories, and yes, failures too. I served active duty in the Marine Corps for 5 years as a Geospatial Analyst, worked in Enterprise IT as a System Administrator for the Department of Defense for nearly a decade, and spent the last 5 years in Colorado working at startups.

The user experience is the epidermis between human and product, the bridge where technology and people connect. My goal is to make that interplay as pleasant, frustration free, and helpful as possible.

It was during my time at my first startup, while designing a new product, that I discovered User Experience Design. I was immediately drawn to it. As a broad, comprehensive, multidisciplinary field, user experience design required skills I was already well acquainted with like research, logical analysis, and Information Technologies, but it offered one thing that I had secretly been yearning for since I first set foot at Marine Corps basic training so many years ago - a creative outlet. It felt like destiny and I knew I had to learn more - and fast!

After completing a semester of college studying Multimedia Graphic Design, I enrolled and was accepted into DesignLab’s User Experience Academy program. With nearly 500 hours of coursework, the guidance and tutelage of my mentor, and the unwavering support of my wife and son - my aspirations to transition into UX Design were well underway!

I love the concept of creating something that is both useful and pleasing, but also helps people in their daily lives. I am driven by the challenge and joy of designing a human-centered experience that empathetically serves their needs and solves their problems. The user experience is the epidermis between human and product, the bridge where technology and people connect. My goal is to make that interplay as pleasant, frustration free, and helpful as possible.
